Travel While You Are Still Capable

Traveling is one of the most uplifting experiences that we humans can do in our life. Sure, it’s not always an affordable endeavor, but going out and exploring places often proves to be more fulfilling than some of the things that our world can offer.

Travel is a form of education, except that it doesn’t happen within the 4 walls of a classroom. If you want to widen the scope of your understanding of the world, one of the best ways to do this is to immerse yourself in this beautiful world we are living in.

Realizing this at a young age is truly eye-opening. Here are the reasons why:

1. You’ll get to know more about your own country.

Young people often begin their wanderlust life by exploring their country of origin. It is often a great place to start, considering how different communities can be even in very small countries. When you travel to other places in your own country, you’ll become exposed to other people’s way of life—the joys and struggles they face everyday and how they deal with these kinds of matters in their own way.

2. You’ll see what life is like in other countries.

As you begin to explore other countries, you’ll also begin to see what people are like in those places. Every destination is an opportunity for you to learn about the beautiful things found in those places that you can also bring home to your own country. These can be ideas, values or culture among many other things.

3. You’ll be able to distinguish between luxuries and necessities.

This is especially true after you’ve been to struggling communities. If you think that you need new clothes, gadgets, and lots of money to be able to live a great life, you’ll begin to understand that, at the most basic level, you actually need only a few things to make you happy. Relationships, kindness and experiences are some of those that really matter.

4. You’ll realize that it’s not all about you

When you go to other places, you will learn that many of the things you thought were the most important things in the world are actually trivial matters for other people. For example, people living hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from your hometown are likely not to care about the battles being waged by your city’s politicians. It’s a humbling experience to know that there are places out there whose worlds revolve around other matters, and certainly not around the ones going on inside your home, on your street, in your city, or even in your country. People, things and events around you have their own story to tell.

5. You’ll learn more about yourself.

Finally, you might think that you already know yourself very well, but the truth is that there is still so much to discover within yourself! And you won’t really experience this unless you get to go out of your comfort zone and realize what you are capable of. Going out there to experience new things is one of the best ways you can do to get to know yourself better.

Traveling is a way of life that could really make a positive impact on you as a person. So start saving and plan your next adventure.

Traditional Games We Used to Play Growing Up

I am currently working with some artists for several murals and street art and one of their designs is about traditional games we used to play on the street when we were kids. The design brings nostalgia and immediately gives me an actual trip down memory lane.

One part of the design is a game called Hide and Seek, locally known as “Tagu-taguan” in which players conceal themselves to be found by one seeker. The game is played by one chosen player counting to a predetermined number with eyes closed while the other players hide. It was very popular to us kids back then, especially at night and when the moon is full. Read more

Investment on Tourism-related Projects

Life and relationship, money and resources, time and progress. This pandemic made us realize the importance of these aspects in our life. It made me rethink my plans and adjust accordingly based on priorities I set in order to fulfil some of my lifelong dreams and aspirations for my family and myself.

Since we were required to work from home the past two years, I decided to leave the city and spend more time in the province. There, I was able to spend more time with my family and travel without much restriction. And because I have a bike, I was able to go around and visit some places I didn’t know existed. I was surprised by the progress around the town and the thriving businesses even if we are still unsure of what’s going to happen in the next coming weeks or months.

I also had the chance to spend a vacation during the pandemic and I observed that even if the COVID19 virus is still around, there are still people who are willing to spend on extra requirements and travel every time the restriction guideline is put at ease.

I was inspired by my discoveries so I decided that maybe I can start building my plans. I went and asked around for some property that could be a potential business. I was thinking of opening a boutique, a food hub, a camping site or converting a house for Airbnb rentals.

I consulted my friend to get his input about the finances involved in building my projects, from choosing the location, estimating the monthly payments, manpower required and other things that would involve finances and planning.

I am planning on investing in tourism related projects because I just realized that people are really eager to go out after 2 years of being almost at home every day. I see a promising potential in this project because I personally get in touch with people who are already in this line of business in our town. They taught me the pros and cons, how much effort is involved and the estimated amount that I can invest my money in.

In the next coming weeks, I will be processing the documents and will give an update on the status of these projects.
