Rock The Riles 2011
While searching for Gang Badoy’s blog, I stumbled upon her tumblr account and saw her post about “Rock The Riles”. From the title itself, it was something rockingly intriguing especially for someone like me who has no idea of what it is. I read upon the entire entry and saw that it’s a massive gathering of bands and musicians to celebrate the Human Rights Day and its actually their seventh year. Its a free concert in chosen MRT Stations where each band performed to support United Nations’ 8 Millenium Development Goals. They are as follow:
1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
2. Ensure environmental sustainability
3. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other disease
4. Promote gender equality and empower women
5. Achieve universal primary education
6. Develop a global partnership for development
7. Improve Maternal health
8. Reduce child mortality rates
So that weekend, I postponed my out of town trip (weh!? actually I’m just goin to visit my family in Batangas) to watch the concert. My experience was really great and besides its FREE. I just used my MRT Ticket to watch the concert. I went to Taft Ave. Station then headed to Shaw Blvd. Station. I tried to catch the one in Ayala, but they already packed up when I arrive. If I only knew that the show is already done, I should have dropped by Buendia Station instead.
Here’s the summary of the bands that performed in chosen MRT Stations. (*from Gang Badoy’s Tumblr account)
